RAPID CITY, S.D. — Recent headlines have warned us that New Year’s resolutions are steadily becoming less popular, or less successful. Unrealistic expectations often lead to 80 percent of Americans abandoning their resolutions.
A healthier lifestyle is the most popular resolution Americans make, with the top three resolutions being healthier eating habits, exercising more and losing weight. It is easy to make these commitments when the holidays have us feeling optimistic, but when the usual routine comes back into play it is easy to fall back into old habits.
Instead of setting resolutions, many studies are suggesting that people set specific goals instead of lofty resolutions. Understanding your goals and establishing a realistic plan is a focus for Nic Yost CNP, owner and operator of BeautyMed, located in the Rushmore Mall in Rapid City.
Yost offers a service at the BeautyMed that can help achieve your weight loss goal — the Skinny Shot. Made of three lipo-proteins mixed with vitamin B12, Yost says that the shot cleanses the liver and maintains a steady blood glucose level. The shot will also give a small boost of energy, suppress your appetite to keep a new diet on track, and provide a bit of mental clarity.
Yost says she offers the Skinny Shot because of her own experience with weight-loss supplements. Many products on the market claim to help consumers lose weight easier and faster, but Yost says that the problem with many of these products is that they are orally ingested, which is harder for the body to absorb and use.
“Personally, I was taking a supplement for weight loss and I had not lost any weight,” Yost said. “Then I started injecting it and I lost 80 pounds.”
When Yost first discovered the option to inject her supplement in Denver, she wanted to bring the option to people here in the Black Hills.
Yost says that the Skinny Shot treatment generally takes three to six months to reach a person’s goal, but changes from person to person.
“It varies based on the individual and how much they want to lose and what their goals are. Sometimes people don’t set those goals ahead of time,” Yost said. “I think we have such a culture of dieting and doing this that some people don’t want to set a goal time because they’re skeptical of everything.”
Yost will also have an in-depth conversation with her patients before starting a regimen like the Skinny Shot to make sure it is tailored to their needs. She says that a variety of factors including diabetes, thyroid conditions and even depression and anxiety can all influence how a person’s body will absorb the shot.
